NEW YEAR’S UPDATE

January 1, 2017

Hello peoples.  I have a new collection book with all six of my main humor titles called BUBBAWORLD COMIX OMNIBUS VOL 2.  It is available HERE just click away.

I have been working on the ZACK THE ZOMBIE HUNTER book which is also a humor comic.  The cool thing is that it will be available for free as a PDF online for anyone to read that would like to.  It will be ready in mid to late January at http://issuu.com/bubbaworldcomix so be sure to click there and follow me over there.  I will try to put out a humor comic ( usually a graphic novel size ) after this first one at least four times a year.  I’m doing my Monthly MISSISSIPPI ARTS AND CULTURE magazine there also.  It also afforded me a test run to check out the site.

My sci fi, horror , and adventure comics will still be for sale at my LULU page but as I start to sell ads in the PDF humor books I may be able to offer my print books cheaper.

I’m currently working ( literally right now ) on the second book of LIGHTS OUT for February .  Just click the name of the book for book one if you haven’t gotten it yet.  It is a horror comic.

In April, towards the end of the month I will be releasing SPACE REDNECKS : THERE GOES THE GALAXY on the http://issuu.com/bubbaworldcomix site as a free PDF humor comic graphic novel.

There will still be updates at BUBBAWORLD COMIX main page of humor one shot gag comics also.

There is more to come and I hope yall have a happy new year.

BUBBAWORLD COMIX OMNIBUS VOL. ONE is available now online.  It collects the six main humor titles in one book. ALSO… I now have a Coloring Book for Grown Up Folks HERE for sale and a Horror Comic series LIGHTS OUT BOOK ONE of Five

I’ve been working on the New ZACK THE ZOMBIE HUNTER book.  It’s a humor comic about , well, a zombie hunter.  It has two stories with him and his sidekick Be-elza Boo Boo the demon.  It’s been fun working on this one.  I’m also about to start working on LIGHT OUT BOOK TWO of Five.  Landon McMinn ( the writer ) has is written,  I’ve just got to start laying out pages.  I want to have it done before Pensacon in Feb.  The BUBBAWORLD COMIX OMNIBUS VOL TWO is in my computer finished.  It just needs a cover and I can put it out.  My sci fi time travel novel DOX has been written for ten years.  I originally was going to use it as a manuscript to put out a series of graphic novels but never had the time so now it’s just coming out as a VERY illustrated novel.  I will be putting 151 illustrations in it actually.  That’s four books I’m working on at one time.  I have another waiting to start as soon as I get these , or some of these, done.  I’ve just counted and didn’t even realize that I had 13 books that I’ve self published.  Mostly humor, some horror.  I’ll post a list here then I have to get back to the drawing board.  I literally will be going to the drawing board…. I’m a CARTOONIST! YAY!  Yall have a Bubbatastic day why don’t ya.

CHANGE

November 30, 2015

“I’ve just decided to switch our Friday schedule to Monday, which means that the test we take each Friday on what we learned during the week will now take place on Monday before we’ve learned it. But since today is Tuesday, it doesn’t matter in the slightest. Pencils ready!”  Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory quote.

The only constant in the Universe is Change…. and my underwear…. and Change is coming to the BUBBAWORLD COMIX site , I tells ya.
For centuries ….. well maybe not centuries , although it feels like centuries, not that it’s a bad thing , just saying… for a long time now I have been doing six comic strip titles.  Originally when it was a paper it was six pages with each title a full page.  Then I made it four pages and each title got half a page with one title getting a full page.  Then I changed again…. I went to the interwebs.  It became a web comic.  I was updating six days a week.  That’s a lot for a web cartoonist.  A different title for each day of the week.  Then I had to take side jobs that became full time jobs and I made a new change.  I went to three updates a week, still pretty good, and did three titles one week and three titles the next week.  All this I was putting out collection books of the strips too.
Now the time for Change has come again.  Having six titles on one page makes the archives a little difficult.  I had six archive pages, one for each title, that held about ten strips each.  Then I created six wordpress sites for the full archives of each strip.  All six titles are humor strips and have one shot gag strips but each one of them has ongoing stories also.  With each title updating twice a month it’s a little hard to keep up with whats going on.  If it takes three or four strips to advance a story then you’re looking at it taking six to eight weeks to read that story while doing the same with five other titles.
Here is the Change.  I will be dropping all six titles on the BUBBAWORLD COMIX webpage and replace it with a one shot humor gag strip.  It won’t involve regular characters and will not have ongoing storylines.  Do not fear, the six original titles are not going anywhere.  They will become books.  I have a collection book that will be released in the upcoming weeks and more strips for a second collection book.  After that each title will have it’s on long base story in book form.  Around fifty pages or so which will be around a hundred strips.  Two strips per printed page.  The page count depends on how the story goes.  Hopefully I can come out with a book every couple of months and all the titles will be represented within the year.  I could never stop doing these titles, they are like my children…  they’ve just hit puberty and need to grow into something different , hopefully something better.
Two weeks and one day.  That’s how many updates of the old way will happen before the new Changes take place.  These are the last seven strips That I had written so I’m drawing them before switching over.  Until then, I’ll see ya in the funny pages.

P.S.  I will still be updating the six archive pages on wordpress with the new strips so those sites will still be active, and will announce books on those sites when the times come.

Vol 4 of BUBBAWORLD COMIX

March 15, 2011

IT’S ALMOST HERE!  BubbaWorld Comix Vol 4.  I just finished putting the finishing touches to it.  I’ve colored in the cover … even with me color blindness .  I did the two inner covers for the two chapters.  Chapter one will be for the QUICK APPLIANCE REPAIR strip collection.

and of course the cover for chapter two which contains the strips from the MISSISSIPPI SWAMP DRAGONS title.

The book is 118 pages of Bubba-ly goodness I tell’s ya.  As soon as I get it printed I will blog here the link where you can get it in print or as a download.  Until then feel free to go to the web comi site at BUBBAWORLD COMIX.

NEW BOOK: BUBBAWORLD COMIX VOL 4

February 18, 2011

That’s right interwebers, I will shortly be putting out Vol 4 of BUBBAWORLD COMIX. Ironically Vol 4 is my eighth book to self publish…. the math seems a little odd there, doesn’t it. Well I have put out two Horror Graphic Novels and two Halloween Humor specials, so if you were the least bit confused , that accounts for the other four books……I LIKE JELLY BABBIES……

VOL4 will bring us full circle. I collect strips from two of my six humor titles for each volume. We have come back around and this book will contain strips from QUICK APPLIANCE REPAIR and MISSISSIPPI SWAMP DRAGONS.

If you are new to BUBBAWORLD COMIX, first let me say I’m glad you’ve finally crawled out from that rock you’ve been under, next let me tell ya about these two titles quickly.
QUICK APPLIANCE REPAIR is a comic strip about two idiot brothers working for there dad in the appliance repair business. They have misadventures involving coffee shops, neurotic mailmen, aliens, Elvis, redneck neighbors, Bigfoots….Bigfeet?… and so on. Occasionally they get a service call run.
MISSISSIPPI SWAMP DRAGONS , as the name suggests, is a comic strip about a psychotic chicken in a floppy ear hat and a pessimistic Clown that lives next door. Herman (the psychotic chicken) does live with two Swamp Dragons by the names of Bill & Bubba. Knothead the Clown lives in a two story mobile home next to the Swamp Dragons’ cave. It’s a rather nice cave with lovely furniture. Sort of like what a Hobbit Hole would look like if the Hobbit was seven feet tall and had long tails.

The past three volumes of BUBBAWORLD COMIX have been flip books. Each title had it’s own cover and half the book was upside down to the other half. I have started releasing my books as PDF’s now. In order to make the transition to a downloadable file or a book on CD easier for me I’m only doing one cover. Also the entire book will be orientated in one direction. It will be divided into two chapters, one for each title. And it will have a black and white cover for each chapter inside the book with a color cover on the outside using characters from both titles in it.

The book will be over 100 pages and will cost $20. You will be able to get the download for $5.

If you are interested in any of the other books I have done then go HERE and check them out. They’re available in print or download there. I will be blogging again when I get closer to releasing the book. That shouldn’t be long. I have the file nearly finished. I just have to make a cover and the two chapter inside covers.

See Ya In The Funny Web Pages

BOOK ON CD

September 9, 2010

I have just gotten thru with putting THREE books together.  I will do another post about the first two later when they come in but right now I want to talk about the BUBBAWORLD COMIX GAS GIANT SIZED VOLUME ONE.

This is an experiment I’m trying out.  I have made a PDF file book on CD.  It contains the first three volumes of the Bubbaworld Comix collection books.  That means all six titles are in this 406 page book.  QUICK APPLIANCE REPAIR – “METAL IN THE MICROWAVE” , MISSISSIPPI SWAMP DRAGONS – “WHO ARE YOU GONNA BELIEVE, ME OR 25 HYSTERICAL NUNS” , SPACE REDNECKS – ” HOUSTON, SUMPTHIN AINT RIGHT UP HERE” , GOING BATTY – ” MOB MENTALITY ”  ,  CAPN’ GEEZER – ” PORT O POTTIE TIME MACHINES, OH MY! ”  &  DAWN OF TIME – ” WARM SPOT IN THE GENE POOL”  Then I also included the eleven page Capn’ Geezer’s April Fool Special.  There’s a bonus comics section with one panel gag comics that I’ve done at signings and cons.  There’s even a section called “The Evolution Of BubbaWorld Comix” that shows the growth from a paper to the web and teh different styles I have done on my comics.  And there is also the TALES FROM THE APPLIANCE GRAVEYARD VOL ONE book included it too.

All this for just $20.  And I also throw in an original sketch that fits in the front of the CD case.  You can find this book (with my regular traditional books) at my BUBBAWORLD COMIX website on the store page or you can just email me at bubbaworldcomix (at) gmail (dot) com   .   I’ll take checks or money orders and even pay pal.  Just email me if you’re interested in getting one of these CD books.  I like the traditional books to hold in my hand but I read so much on the computer now and spend so much time on it I probably would buy these types of books from the cartoonists I support if they had them.  Also I prefer human interaction over computer automation.  Each email is read by me and each order is handled by me.

If you want a really good deal on a lot of comics and want to support a cartoonist so he can make more comics for your enjoyment then order this book and I’ll see you in the funny web pages.

DISCOMBOBULATED

June 2, 2010

I will be slightly busy for the next 3 months or so.  June the 12th is the PULPCON in Jackson at the Commons.  Some writers and artists will be gathering for this.  I will be one of them.

While I get ready for this I will also be preparing for the SOUTHERN FRIED COMIC CON in Jackson on June 26-27.  I will be trying to get new sketch cards and sketches drawn up before the con but will also be taking requests at the con also.

But what I have really been working on is more books.  I will be releasing BUBBAWORLD COMIX VOL 3 at the SOUTHERN FRIED COMIC CON.  It’s in my computer and all I have to do is a couple of covers and then I can order it.  This book will feature ” CAPN’ GEEZER:  Port O Pottie Time Machines, Oh My!” on side one and “DAWN OF TIME: The Warm Spot in the Gene Pool” on the other.  Yes, it will be a flip book like the first two comic collections I’ve already put out.  It’s Wednesday so I need to get on the ball and get those covers done.

I’ve also been working on the TALES FROM THE APPLIANCE GRAVEYARD VOL 2.  It will be coming out in October.  It will put in print the special holiday special crossing over all six of my humor titles in the story “It’s The Great Pumpkin Massacre Dr Brown” that appeared on my BUBBAWORLDCOMIX.COM website last October.  As a special somethin’ somethin’ I’m adding a story with a brand new character that has never appeared anywhere on the web or in print.  ZACK THE ZOMBIE HUNTER.  It’s another humor title that will appear in each TALES each year when they go to print.  I’ve been drawing the ZACK pages for the last week or so.  I’ve got the first 14 penciled and inked.  The story itself is 26 pages long.  I’ve been wanting to use this character for a couple or more years so I’m glad that I’m finally doing it.

I’m also working on the MISFITS & MAYHEM VOL 2.  It’s a horror graphic novel comic book with it’s own horror host.  This is one of the very few projects that I work with someone else on.  Shane Sullivan writes three of the stories and I write three of the stories.  Then we talked about the intros and outros with the Creepy Clyde horror host , then I draw and ink it in.  Shane just finished his stories about a week ago and I sat down one Saturday and banged out my three stories in about two hours.  I also finished writing the ZACK story while I was at it.  I’ve just penciled in the first page to M&M today.  It should be between 80 to 100 pages , which mean I need to draw and ink one to two pages every day for the next 90 days in order to get it done in time to put together in my computer and send off to the printers.  All this while also  finishing up the last ten pages to the ZACK story and writing and drawing THIS year’s TALES special that will be on the web for October.  Luckily I have all of September to finish that one.    But I still need to draw one regular humor comic strip a day just so I dont lose my buffer for my daily updated site.

Did I mention I have a sci fi graphic novel series I want to do?  I’ve already written it down….years ago….and am now in the process of thumbnailing the pages for the first of five or six part saga.  It deals with time travel and such.  Most likely it will start appearing in 2011 unless I magically find some spare time somewhere.  I work on appliances during the day so I have to make time for all this comic productions and what nots.

Be sure to make it to the SOUTHERN FRIED COMIC CON on June 26 & 27 and pick up a book or a sketch or a sketch card from me.  I put Vol One out in June of 2009 and now I will have Vol 3 out in June 2010.  Along with the TALES and the MISFITS books that’s a total of five books I’ve put out this year.  I cant wait to see how this next year goes.

Comic Strips

November 12, 2009

http://bubbaworldcomix.com is my daily updated site. Unlike most webcartoonists I write and draw six titles at one time. Instead of having six different websites I use the umbrella name of BubbaWorld Comix for all six titles. So now I have one site, BubbaWorldComix.com, that houses all of my stips. Each title has it’s own day of the week that it updates on every week.

Monday-QUICK APPLIANCE REPAIR- A strip about two idiot brothers working for their Dad in the Appliance Repair business.

Tuesday-MISSISSIPPI SWAMP DRAGONS- As the name suggests it’s a strip about a Psychotic Chicken and a Pessimistic Clown

Wednesday-DAWN OF TIME- Bubba the Caveman, he’s the warmspot in the gene pool, and his Chimp friend Milo. Milo is the smart one.

Thursday-CAPN’ GEEZER- of the Time/Space Patrol travels the Univers with his companions Bot, Zoe, & Red Shirt. Going against villains such as Major Evil in his Port O Pottie time machine.

Friday-SPACE REDNECKS- Houston Mississippi with it’s own Space Program. And dont forget the fued with the gray aliens.

Saturday-GOING BATTY- Doc the Mad Scientist, Merlin his pet bat, and his grotesque humpback lab assistant ….. Buttercup. And all the freaks around the castle including redneck neighbors….now that’s scary.

I started it out as a monthly four page comic paper that was free due to the ads a sold and distributed thru central MS. I moved it to the web in early to mid 2007. Each year, including the one before I officially went to the web , I do a Halloween special. TALES FROM THE APPLIANCE GRAVEYARD. This encompasses humor Halloween stories involving all six of my titles. Sometimes it’s one story crossing over all six titles. I’ve just released the first three years into a book this October while putting the new special up on the web at the same time. It is still there till the end of November. There is a link on the home page to it. I do the normal daily updates and put the Halloween special up all at once. I use to do it in weekly installments thru out October but it’s just easier to do it all at once. This year’s special will be in a book with a special story add for extra content next year. The extra story will not appear on the web first. You will only be able to get it in the book.

Speaking of books, I have released three self published books since June of 2009. The first was a flip book collection of QUICK APPLIANCE REPAIR & MISSISSIPPI SWAMP DRAGONS. Each titles has half the book and it’s own cover and they are upside down to each other. Q.A.R. in “Metal In The Microwave” and M.S.D. in “Who Are You Going To Believe, Me or 25 Hysterical Nuns?” I, of course, released teh TALES FROM THE APPLIANCE GRAVEYARD book and at the same time put out a Horror Graphic Novel called MISFITS & MAYHEM. I actually plan on putting out a collection book with two titles in each every four months with the one coming out in October actually being the separate TALES & MISFITS books. I’m currently working on a Sci Fi graphic novel five part saga. I wrote the manuscript as a 80,000 word novel. It should make five graphic novels. I will put these out just whenever I get them done. They will come out between scheduled collection releases. The next book will come out in February and will contain a collection of the SPACE REDNECKS and GOING BATTY strips. I actually have something very cool planned for April Fool’s day. Be sure to check it out …. if you believe me. No, really, it will be cool. It will be better if you read the strips regularly first though. If it works then I plan to do it every year. So if you haven’t yet, go check out http://bubbaworldcomix.com today….and every day….for the rest of your lives.

OCTOBER CATCH UP

November 2, 2009

The month of October was a busy month, I’ll tell you what. It started with the Van’s Artist Alley in Ridgeland. Steven Butler & Roland Mann were able to make it and my artist friends Chuck Jett and Kevin Hayman were there. Shane Sullivan, who wrote half the stories in the MISFITS & MAYHEM graphic novel, was there with me. The crowd that day wasn’t that impressive but the comradely between all the artists made up for it. We had a great day hanging out with each other and talking comics and being silly. After the show we all went next door to get a sandwich and spent over two hours just hanging out talking and eating.

The following Saturday was spent at the Heroes & Dreams store in Flowood. It’s always a blast hanging out with the Heroes crew, this includes the workers and the regulars. We had a good showing and sold some books I had all three titles with me and Shane Sullivan joined me again. I even sold some artwork and all in all I did better that the last time I had a signing at H&D. And I do need to point out that Meridian really represented themselves with a their group that came to Flowood for the signing.

The following weekend was the Imagicopter autors meeting. There were plenty of authors but the crowd was low. I still wouldn’t have missed it just for the friends I made at it and the conversations all the authors had “comparing notes”. I really enjoyed meeting C. Liegh McInnis and talking with him.

I had nothing planned for the third weekend and enjoyed some time not having to be anywhere and gave us time to get ready for the signing at Starkville on Main Street at the Book Mart. I wond up postponing it due to the bad weather we had on the 30th.

I will be back at Heroes & Dreams Nov 7th. They’re having a special thing going on to celebrate 3 years of being in business. They have Mitch Byrd signing books and some other local artists. They invited me back so I’m definitely will be there. I will be there all day enjoying myself selling me books and artwork to anyone I can. It will be cool to hang out with Wade Acuff again, he’s one of the local artists that will be there too. It will really be cool to hang out with Mitch for the day.

I also had my new TALES FROM THE APPLIANCE GRAVEYARD Halloween special up at my BUBBAWORLD COMIX site. I’m leaving it up for the month of November.

I have other projects that I’m working on that I will talk about in future blogs.

VAN’S ARTIST ALLEY UPDATE

September 23, 2009

We are getting closer, and closer to the Van’s artist alley in Ridgeland, MS on Hwy 51 at Van’s Comics & Cards.  There will be seven tables of Cartoonists and Writers there selling there art and books.

I ,bubbaworldcomix.com , will  be there with 3 new books myself.  BUBBAWORLD COMIX VOL ONE which contains a collection of strips from my two titles, QUICK APPLIANCE REPAIR and MISSISSIPPIS SWAMP DRAGONS.   The second book is a Halloween special , TALES FROM THE APPLIANCE GRAVEYARD.  This one uses all six of my humor titles in Halloween themed stories.  They are specials that I have put up in the past three years on my website that I have collected in a book.  The third book is an actual Horror Graphic Novel, MISFITS & MAYHEM.  It even has it’s own Horror Host, Creepy Clyde.  It has six short horror stories, three written by me and three written by Shane Sullivan (who will be with me at Van’s Artist Alley).  All six stories were illistrated by me.

Be sure to tell everyone you know that would be interested in this to come out and support us.
